افتراضي 3 Kano Politicians take Musa Kwankwaso To Court.

A decision by the Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to engrave “Kwankwasiyya” on public buildings has been challenged in a Kano High Court by a member of Peoples Democratic Party [PDP], Alhaji Abdullahi Maraya Barkum, a member of All Nigeria Peoples Party [ANPP], Alhaji Hamisu Danwawu and a private citizen, Alhaji Hassan Sani Indabawa. The case is billed to come up before Justice Lawal Wada soon.

In the writ of summons, the three averred that the Kano State Government’s action was illegal, unconstitutional, discriminatory, unlawful and a waste of public funds and therefore prayed the court to declare the action as illegal.

The plaintiffs prayed the court to restrain the State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankaso, the state’s Attorney General and the State government to remove and stop from further inscription/engraving Kwankwasiyya on public buildings in the interest of the general public.

“The plaintiffs aver that inscribing or engraving Kwankwasiyya on public properties of the state that belong to all the people of Kano State promotes disaffection, disharmony and may ultimately cause bad blood among the people of Kano state”. The plaintiffs therefore prayed the court to declare that the inscription of Kwankwasiyya on primary school buildings, colleges and government properties is illegal and contrary to the laws creating public institutions.

They also prayed the court that the acronym Kwankwasiyya, a private group only promotes individual’s ego rather than public and is therefore illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional.
