Lawan Says He will be vadicated Folowing The m Bribe. The Chairman of The ad hoc committee on fuel subsidy, Hon Farouk Lawan, yesterday, sneaked into The House of Representatives to a visibly cold reception as federal lawmakers engaged in routine debates at plenary.

Sitting next to The Lower House Deputy Leader, Leo Ogor, The embattled Lawan decked in grey Agbada and a matching cap, came in at about 1: 15pm and spent 15 minutes before leaving The chamber with a horde of newsmen, cameramen and photographers hot on his trail.

Lawan in a chat with newsmen said “First of all, I think it is important to note that I have been a member of The House of Representatives in The last 13 years, of course with several of my colleagues (past and present) we have done so much to build The House as an institution that should enjoy The respect and confidence of Nigerians and whatever The decision taken by The House of Representatives, I believe it is meant to ensure The credibility of The institution.
“Whenever any issue calls to question any particular member, it is important to recognise that The institution in itself is bigger than each and every one of us. And so The decision of The House of Representatives is a collective decision of an institution and I have absolutely no problem with that decision.
“Ultimately I will be vindicated” Lawan told newsmen when cornered on The corridors of The Lower House chambers.
In a related development, The House has said it will not take up issues with oil marketer who made The bribery allegations against Lawan, Mr Femi Otedola, stating that despite statements created to him that The House’s resolution was a celebration of corruption, it is not out to witch-hunt anybody.
Last Friday, Lawan was suspended as Chairman of The House committee on education and The Ad Hoc committee that investigated The federal government’s petroleum subsidy regime - a move he said was meant to ensure The credibility of The Lower House.
