Five Boko Haram Members were Killed by JTF In Kano - 16/6/2012

Members of the Joint Task Force yesterday invaded Naibawa and Darmunawa areas of Kano believed to be a hide out of Members dreaded of Islamist satanic group, otherwise called Boko Haram after long hours of heavy artillery fire and sporadic gunshots that forced residents to remain indoors.


Witnesses say the first shot was heard around 3.25am yesterday and gained intensity in the affected areas, until Five suspected Boko Haram Members including a woman were killed.


No member of the JTF was Killed during the gun battle which lasted several hours, according to an eye witness account.


According to a top Security Source, residence in the area gave information to the JTF operatives on the suspicious activities of the men and woman who were killed.


It could be recalled that three days ago in a silent operation, JTF, arrested Five Boko Haram members.


As at the time of filling this report, Dan Marawa area of Kano and other strategic places have been taken over by security operatives.


Armored Carriers and Patrol Vans move around major streets in Kano. Air Force Helicopters and on air carrying our surveillance.


Parents who were initially unaware of the situation in the area besieged several schools to pick up their children.


The Kona Masalchi area where two students of the Federal Government College, Kano were Killed on Monday was cordoned off, while motorists on the Kano-Zaria federal highway are been diverted.


Banks, public and private businesses hurriedly closed shops as Military apache helicopter hovered the skyline of the embattled ancient city.


Although he would not comment immediately as at press time, spokesperson for the JTF, Lieutenant Ikedichi Iweha said an official statement will soon be released.
