Drama ministers to be Christ ambassadors - Fayemi

Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti State governor, has advised Christian ministers involved in Drama to see themselves as ambassadors of Christ. Fayemi made the appeal recently in Ikere-Ekiti on the occasion of the 19th Annual Congress of All Nigeria Conference of Evangelical Drama ministers (ANCEDRAM) tagged “Ekiti 2012.”

The governor, who was represented by Biodun Fasaye, special assistant in the Governor’s Office, and Adeola Alofe, special assistant on Religious Matters, appreciated the hosting of the event in his state, urging participants to see their roles in the Drama they act as a means of evangelism, advising them also to live out the life they preach in their films.

Oluwayimika Olumilua, wife of the erstwhile old Ondo State governor, Bamidele Olumilua, advised up and coming Drama ministers to show good example; to be patient, focused and honest in their ministries. She cautioned them against cutting corners, urging them to emulate their forerunners like Mike Bamiloye, Mike Agboola and others who made a lot of sacrifices before becoming what they are today.

The conference offered ANCEDRAM members the opportunity to review their activities to ensure they are still in tune with the organisation’s mission and vision.

CityFile gathered that, determined to push for a positive change in the apparently morally decadent society where corruption in high places, brazen immorality, ritual killing, broken homes, political misdemeanors and other vices have become the order of the day, Mike Bamiloye, president of Mount Zion Film Productions, pioneers of evangelical film production in Nigeria, repeatedly challenged state chapters of the association to produce films that pointedly address the problem of sin.

He stated that all other film sub-sectors – Nollywood, Hollywood and the Indian film industry - have failed the world because, according to him, they lack the wherewithal to induce moral rectitude. To him, evangelical Drama is the only hope of the nation and the entire world.

High points of the congress was the launch of a new magazine to propagate the ideals of ANCEDRAM and the inauguration of a new National Board of Executive, headed by Lekan Asikhia, a pastor of the Lord’s ambassadors and Teaching Ministry (LADTEM).

Other personalities present at the congress include Gloria Bamiloye, wife of the chairman, Board of Trustees of the conference, Bamiloye; Clement Akinyemi, former chairman, Oodua Group of Companies; and former speaker, old Ondo State House of Assembly (1992-1993); first and the immediate past presidents of the conference, Moses Makinde and Beloved Alabi, respectively.
