Nasarawa Govt Discourages Lawlessness. The Nasarawa State Government has warned the people in the state to shun any acts of lawlessness, saying that it will not tolerate any resort to anarchy.

The State Governor, Umaru Tanko Almakura made this known when he visited Assakio Community in Lafia East Development Area.

LEADERSHIP reports that the community was thrown into chaos last Friday when two major tribes in the community (Alagon and Eggon) engaged each other in a battle, during which properties worth millions of naira were destroyed and hundreds of lives lost.

The governor said that government will not condone people taking up arms to cause mayhem in any part of the state.

He appealed to the affected persons to remain calm and allow the law to take its course, adding that government had taken proactive measures to resolve the lingering communal clashes.

He also urged Alagon and Eggon stakeholders to embrace peace which, he says, is necessary for any meaningful development to occur in the state.
