The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), has Accused President Goodluck Jonathan of Neglecting the War Against Corruption in the country.

The conference in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osita Okechukwu, made available to Journalists; CNPP noted that though the nation’s problem predates the present administration, it has failed to find solutions to them in a meaningful way.

CNPP said, “Whereas the Constitution frowns at Corruption and nepotism; President Jonathan not only pays scant attention to Corruption and promotes nepotism, but glorifies them. His breach of the Constitution is legendary and uncountable.

“If only he can passionately fight corruption, eradicate nepotism, and paradigm shifts away from food is ready and share the money trade mark policy of his party – the Peoples Democratic Party”, perhaps the nation would be better off.

The conference affirmed that they were doubtful whether the present regime understood, identified and comprehended why the country was sliding into a failed state and said that the moment this was understood the country’s problems would be half solved.

“For example, Mr. President, from all indications, has abandoned and breached the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, which he swore to protect and defend,” the conference observed.

It noted that if the president had not breached Chapter 2 of the Constitution, Section 15{5} which states that, ‘The State shall aJonathan Accused Of Neglecting War Against Corruption CNPPish all corrupt practices and abuse of power’, the Fuel Subsidy Scheme could not have ballooned from less than N700billion in December 2010 to over N2trillion in December 2011.

The frontline political opposition averred that, “In this context, for allowing his cronies to feed fat from the fuel subsidy scheme, he had violently breached the constitution by allowing monies to be withdrawn recklessly from the Federation Account outside the Appropriation Act; for in the 2011 Appropriation Act, only N240billion was duly appropriated for fuel subsidy”.
