We want to part-ner the Japanese Govern-ment in this direction. We’re still yearning for more development.

I look forward to more areas of cooperation with your government,” the gover-nor beckoned. He told the Japanese delegation that the Fed-eral Government had granted Ibaka Deep Sea-port a license, and asked Japanese companies to take advantage of the seaport by assisting to evacuate from the shore-line the finished prod-ucts from the industries to be sited there.

On the aviation sector, Akpabio said the State government had built maintenance, repairs and overhaul (MRO) fa-cilities at the Akwa Ibom International Airport, Uyo, and asked the Japa-nese government to part-ner the State government in the management of MRO.

The governor thanked the Ambassador for his country’s contributions in the power sector par-ticularly for donating booster stations to some communities in the State to boost electricity sup-ply, saying that the gov-ernment was looking for more economic coopera-tion in other areas.

Shoji, who was ac-companied by the Chief Representative of Ja-pan International Co-operative Agency Sumi Yoshitaka, among oth-ers, said this was his second visit to the State since his arrival in the country, acknowledg-ing that Akwa Ibom has rich natural resources, tourism opportunities, human resources and industrial potentials.
