Kano will boast of Flyover soon

Kano State government is working towards ensuring that the construction of the first set of ‘flyover’ bridges to be built in the state, meant for decongesting heavy traffic flow in the metropolis would soon take off.

Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso gave the assurance when he received president of the Nigeria Institute of Architects, Ibrahim Haruna who led other council members of the institute on a courtesy call to Government House Kano.

The bridges, expected to cost billions of naira would be constructed at major and strategic roads of Zaria and Gidan Murtala round about networks to ease the daily problems essentially caused by the heavy traffic flow in the areas.

He explained that the government had already set in motion the machineries for quick results on the bridges, the governor disclosed that his government had already got the design of the project which he requested the institute to look at and make input.

“We are starting the construction of the flyovers very soon, we are now looking for the competent contractors who can handle the projects very well,” Kwankwaso explained.

He stated that the bridges were not just meant to reduce traffic in the ancient commercial city of Kano but to also give the city an outlook that befits a modern one.

He told the NIA president and his delegation that the state government was also working assiduously to provide infrastructural and social amenities for the people, pointing at the significant achievements recorded in rural electricity, water supply, education, health and agriculture among other areas, especially in the past twelve months.

Speaking, the president of NIA, Ibrahim Haruna congratulated the Kwankwaso administration for engaging professionals in his administration. The move, he said was pure “professionalism in governance” and a brilliant effort at tackling uncontrolled physical development in the state.

Haruna urged the governor to pay attention to the completion of all uncompleted projects in the state, particularly the Ado Bayero House, which he suggested should be handed over to the state University of Science and Technology, Wudil to serve as a campus, particularly the Architecture department.
