Jegede slams Kadiri Ikhana
FORMER board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Princess Bola Jegede, has condemned the decision of the Super Falcons Head Coach, Kadiri Ikhana (MON), to start camping with 53 players.

Jegede, while speaking with newsmen in Lagos noted that Ikhana's approach could be counter productive given the pitiable state of women's football league in Nigeria.

"It's like treating the Super Falcons players as babies, who should be taught how to sit down, crawl and walk. These girls have been in the game for quite sometime, these are experienced players who have played for the country before on several occasions.

"I believe this is not the time to call 53 players to the camp and begin to teach them basics, I think they are too many. I just pray he (Ikhana) does not select wrong players at the end of the day. We know the ability of the Super Falcons players individually, we have seen them play at the highest level.

A lot of these new players are just coming up in their various clubs and the problem again is that our league is not very strong, where do we go from here?" said the proprietress of the defunct Jegede Babes FC.

Ikhana, a former National U-23 team coach had invited 53 players, comprising 12 goalkeepers, 13 defenders, 11 midfielders and 17 strikers, for the first phase camping in Abuja ahead of the African Women Championship (AWC) qualifier against Zimbabwe billed for May 27 in Harare.

Meanwhile, Precious Dede, Tochukwu Oluehi, Ulunma Jerome, Akudo Iwuagwu, Martina Ohadugha, Glory Iroka and Stella Mbachu, are among veteran players invited to camp.
