افتراضي One Text Book For 20 Students, Airtel Tanzania Donates

Several secondary schools across the country have benefitted immensely from the mobile phone service provider, Airtel Tanzania through the company’s “SHULE YETU” project which this very week is donating numerous books to Kiponzelo, Wasa, Mgawa and Lyandembela secondary schools in Iringa Region.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony at the Lyandembela secondary school, Head Teacher Mr, Adrian Nyakunga expressed his gratitude.

“We are grateful to see Airtel take lead in providing equal opportunities to secondary schools across the country especially in rural areas…” said the thankful teacher.

Head Master of Wasa Secondary School, David Mpalanzi, spoke on behalf of the heads of Mgama and Kiponzelo secondary schools and he too expressed his gratefulness to Airtel Tanzania For what he called, ‘invaluable support’.

He also described the dire situation that his students are dealing with on a daily basis revealing that they have so few Text books that 15-20 students share One book. The head master did not shy away from requesting more assistant to tackle their many growing challenges and so he asked Airtel to donate even more.

“Our school has a lot of needs, we appeal to Airtel to extend their support towards the establishment of water wells…” said the teacher noting that at this point in time the entire nation is grappling with prolonged water shortages due to low and unreliable rainfall.

Speaking on behalf of the Students, the Head Boy of Lyandembela Secondary School, Taifa Malata thanked Airtel and underscored the fact that performance of many students is bad due to the lack of books and basic needs like food and water.

Airtel Sales Manager Mr. Beda Kinunda urged all students to make best use of the donated books assuring them that the “SHULE YETU” programme has been designed to act as a catalyst towards the challenges facing the educational sector in Tanzania and will continue offering their supporter.
