افتراضي ESSPIN’S Initiative, Minister Commends

The Minister of education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i, has commended ESSPIN for its support and partnership with government in its efforts to develop the Nigerian education sector.

The Minister who made the commendation when the commissioners and SUBEB chairmen from the six ESSPIN – supported states paid a courtesy visit to her, expressed satisfaction on the positive impact ESSPIN intervention has made in the education system of those states, noting that there is remarkable difference between states participating in the initiative and those that are not, especially in areas of institutional development, teacher quality, quality assurance and community participation in school governance.

She advised the commissioners to share their experiences with other commissioners of education of those states not yet partnering with ESSPIN during the forth-coming forum of commissioners of education.

Speaking earlier, Hon. Muhammad Usman, the leader of the delegation, had said that the visit was to enable them share the experiences of their partnership with ESSPIN with the Minister and to seek continued support and partnership with the ministry to sustain the efforts geared to the transform the education sector.

He said that the Teacher Development Needs Assessment (TDNA) and Monitoring Learning Achievement (MLA) tests conducted by ESSPIN in 2008, in the six states, namely: Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kwara, Enugu and polytechnic-post-utme-schedule-for-20122013-screening-details-here/”target=”_self”rel=”external”title=”" >Lagos, showed frightening challenges but noted that with the support of ESSPIN in the areas of strategic framework, technical support and some funding, those identified challenges have been greatly tackled.

According to Usman, ESSPIN intervention has begun to reflect on teacher capacity and pupils achievements, saying, ‘’that is why in all states we have adopted ESSPIN intervention strategies as our own and have committed funds for its scale up.’’
