There was an abundance of Money, prizes and Music performances at the Jubilee Park during the MTN Mobile Money Mega Utilities road show on Saturday.
The Manzini city literally came to a standstill as passersby and motorists were drawn to the venue during the event sponsored by MTN Mobile Money, the Swaziland Electricity Company (SEC), the Swazi Observer and Swaziland Water Services Corporation (SWSC).
The public were eligible to enter a draw after purchasing a copy of the Weekend Observer.
The prizes included a E200 electricity voucher as well as E200 voucher to enable the winner to pay their water bill through MTN Mobile Money.
Lucky winners also walked away with free cell-phones courtesy of The Weekend Observer.
On the other hand, the SEC gave away t-shirts, mugs, cooler bags and pens whereas; SWSC gave away juice bottles and caps.
The crowd that had gathered out of curiosity was first entertained by the Expendables Dance Crew which was followed by La-Zwide who gave out an impressive performance.
The show stopper was Phathwakahle whose performance prompted numerous requests for encores from her legions of fans.
The Black Cats Dance Troupe was the last to take to the stage and they were joined by the Black Cat Girls.
People also got to watch an educational play rendered by Sisonkhe Mbikwakhe Theatre group.
The play delved into the dangers of illegal electricity connections and the importance of reporting illegal water connections.

La-Zwide gets a present from a 69 year old fan

La-Zwide Umkhokheli was the happiest person on Saturday during the MTN Mobile Money Mega Utilities roadshow on Saturday.
This was after she was given a framed picture of herself by a fan, Abel Mngometulu (69) who is a freelance photographer.
Mngometulu gave her the gift after her performance and La-Zwide was moved by this kind gesture.
The elderly man said he took the picture during the group’s previous performance at Moyeni.
“I love the group’s music. Since I am a photographer, I felt I should just frame the photo and present it to her,” he said.
La-Zwide said she is flattered to receive something from an old man like Mngometutlu.
“Although I receive different present from my fans, this one is different and I just cannot express how I feel. It is my first time to receive a big photo from my fans .what makes it special is that it is framed so I will hang it in my house,” she said.

Emagawugawu incomplete without Mduduzi

Emagawugawu felt ‘short-changed’ when the Gospel group performed without its founder Mduduzi Simelane.
Instead, his wife La-Zwide led the group during its performance.
When the group dismounted the stage, the programme director Nkululeko Dlamini announced that another group would be performing.
However, the crowd shouted in unison, ‘We want Mduduzi’.
Unfortunately, the request wasn’t heeded because Simelane wasn’t present.
