The Lagos State Government has said its new initiative, One Stop Public Enquiry Service, will break communication barrier between the government and the people and make information available to the public. The Director-General, Office of Transformation, Mr. Toba Otusanya, said the government was convinced that its dream to make the State a mega city could only be sustained by the availability of a good service delivery system, which the initiative was meant to achieve.

Otusanya spoke at the inauguration of OSPES at the State Treasury Office on Friday in Alausa, Ikeja. He said, "OSPES is another way of developing a customer service culture by ensuring that enquiries to government are addressed effectively and efficiently within a short timeline.

"Government also wants to promote professionalism by ensuring that everybody has equal access to it and its services and ultimately build public confidence in the act of governance in the state." Otusanya added that the initiative should be able to assist journalists in having access to information as well as directing people to where certain government activities could be located.

He said, "To a very large extent, the officers involved in the initiative should be able to address journalists' quests for information. And in cases where they cannot handle it; they would be in best positions to direct such persons to appropriate places."

The Accountant-General, STO, Mr. Akin Ambode, said public workers in the State were in tune with government's plan to enhance service delivery. He said, "OSPES will no doubt improve our service delivery. I am positive that it will yield fruits that the public will be proud of."
