The Nigerian Army will on Thursday unveil locally made anti-bombing devices to curtail and immobilise vehicles used for suicide bombings, especially at worship centres across the country.

This was disclosed in Abuja by the Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Brig-Gen. OmoArmy to unveil locally made anti-bombing devices.aji Koleosho through the statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Directorate of Army Public Relations, Col. John Agim.


Koleosho stated that the new innovation of the Nigerian Army, which will be unveiled Thursday to the Nigerian public is to be handed over to some churches and mosques as part of their corporate social responsibility service.


He said: "Some of the equipment will be handed over to some churches and mosques as part of the Nigerian Army's Corporate Social Responsibility in curtailing the spate of bombings at worship centres in the nation".


In the same vein, the Senate Committee on Defence has applauded the efforts of the Nigerian Army in containing the present security challenges in the country and for effective utilisation of funds allocated to it.


The Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence and Army, Senator George Thompson Sekibo made this commendation when he led members of the committee to the Army Headquarters, Abuja on an oversight function visit.


Sekibo specifically lauded the leadership of the Nigerian Army for the efforts in refurbishing obsolete equipment and the massive renovation of barracks across the formations including the construction of new accommodation blocks for officers and soldiers.


He also commended the Army's efforts on training and assured of the committee's assistance where necessary.
In his remarks, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Azubuike Ihejirika appreciated the committee for their continued assistance to the Nigerian Army.


Present at the occasion were Principal Staff Officers and Directors at the Army Headquarters.
